BLUE-THROATED MACAW (Ara glaucogularis)

$510.00

The Blue-throated macaw (Ara glaucogularis), also known as the Caninde macaw or Wagler’s macaw, is a critically endangered parrot species native to a small region of north-central Bolivia. It is notable for its striking blue plumage, especially the blue throat, and bright yellow underparts. These macaws inhabit tropical savannas and forest edges. They are highly social and intelligent, typically seen in pairs or small family groups. The Blue-throated macaw’s population has been severely reduced due to habitat destruction and illegal trapping for the pet trade. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect and increase their numbers in the wild.
